During the two weeks following D-day, according to "Mogin's Maulers," ten pilots of the 362nd Fighter Group were lost. Two later made it back to the base. The activities supporting the land advance across France made the war deadly for these men. Another indication of how tough it was getting is that none of the drawings in the last sketchbook are dated, a sign that my dad was dashing off the drawings even more quickly than usual.
